The Harbor House Foundation Inc. has been a leading name in family advocacy for upwards of 20 years. Take a more detailed look below at how our organization has progressed over its lifespan.
The Harbor House Foundation, Inc. was founded in 1992 in Central Florida. It was formed to provide services to the at-risk populations of senior adults and troubled teens. The Harbor House operated for 12 years as a licensed residential home for at-risk teens, serving to “empower teens and adults to live life on purpose, with purpose.”
Since our start, we’ve operated residential homes in Florida, Tennessee, Oklahoma, and California, and have successfully exited thousands of students.
Recognizing the enormous need for a more proactive approach outside of the residential homes, Harbor House offered a program called H.Y.P.E. (Helping Youth Prepare for Excellence) in 2005. This took our message of “living life on purpose” to public and private school systems. In 2015, we launched the H.Y.P.E. app, which geo-locates social services for homeless youth in need.
In December of 2014 Harbor House Foundation opened an independent living community called Hope Harbor-Choctaw. This facility houses low-income seniors that face difficulties financially. Programs associated with Hope Harbor allow the elderly to live their lives in a safe and healthy environment. Hope Harbor-OKC will open in Spring 2017.
Presently, Harbor House provides many services to individuals and families as well as consulting services to other nonprofits.
